The Premier League has announced the shortlist of four managers, who oversaw fantastic results for their respective teams, for the Barclays Manager of the Month award for the month of March 2023. Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola are the managers shortlisted for the award with the winner set to be announced on a later date after the end of the voting period by the fans on Monday the 27th of March.
Mikel Arteta guided his Arsenal side to a perfect four wins out of four games played in the month of March, scoring 14 goals in the process and is aiming to win this award for the fourth time this season having already won it in January, November/December and August.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi guided his own side to an unbeaten run through the month with two victories, a 4-0 thrashing of West Ham United and a 1-0 success over Crystal Palace, and a draw in the 3 games they played. The Italian boss is in pursuit of European qualification and his side sit 7th on the log.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa conceded only one goal in the 3 games they played throughout the month to move them within touching distance of the top half of the table. The 1-1 draw at West Ham was the only time the Villa side dropped points in the month with victories over Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Yet another Spaniard nominated for this award, Pep Guardiola guided his Manchester City side to two victories without conceding a single goal in the two games they played in the month including a 2-0 win over high-flying Newcastle United.
