DRAKE SEEMINGLY TAKES JAB AT KANYE WEST, SAMPLES EX WIFE, KIM KARDASHIAN ON NEW TRACK

Award winning, Canadian rapper Drake Graham, Drake recently has the media talking as he seemingly revisits year-old beef with hip-hop royalty, Kanye West via his new, unreleased track.

On Friday, March 31st the God’s plan rapper premiered a new song unofficially titled “Rescue me” on the 100th episode of Sound 42's The fri Yiy show on SiriusXM radio in honour of OVO40'S 40TH birthday. On the track, produced by BNYZ, the vocals of Ye's ex-wife, business mogul and reality TV star Kim Kardashian are sampled from when she reveals to “Momager” Kris Jenner that she wants to get a divorce from the ex-billionaire rapper, Kanye West.

“I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy, remember that,” Kim said in the sampled line. The conversation appeared on the season finale of their popular, culturally resetting reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2021.

Recall that Kim and Kanye officially divorced in March of 2022, after six years of marriage and the later hasn’t really been Keeping up in his good graces to the public eye ever since. They began dating publicly in 2012, and were married in 2014.

Drake and Kanye also engaged in a three-year-long rap beef but squashed it in November of 2021 in an effort to help promote the release of Gangster’s Disciples cofounder Larry Hoover from prison. So, fans are curious to know if this was a direct jab at the Monster rapper or it was just a harmless reference to the context of his particular piece of art.

The rapper on the unreleased song seems to rap about being ready to hang up being a player and settle down with an “ideal” woman.

“I need someone to be patient with me/Someone to get money, would not take it from me/They don’t even need to be as famous as me/I don’t think I meet ‘em at the places I be/But deep down I think about you all day, mami,” he rap-sings.

Drake initially shared a snippet of the song on his Instagram account on March 25. In the clip, it appears as if Drizzy is at the turntables while he lets the song play in the background.

This isn’t the first time the Canadian rapper would be referencing or directly mentioning Mr. West’s wife in a song as he did on his song Circo loco off his last year’s Her Loss  album referring to her as an “opp”.

Netizenz keep wondering if these are subtle jabs aimed at the Famous rapper to rekindle old feuds or merely coincidences that all add up.
