DID YOU KNOW: The Eiffel tower gets taller in the summer?

A fact you must be thinking is probably weird but is actually true because when the temperature rises, the Eiffel Tower increases in size.

This is a natural phenomenon called Thermal expansion. Heat causes an increase in volume that makes the Eiffel Tower a few centimeters taller. When the iron heats up, the tower can be up to 15 centimeters (6 inches) taller due to thermal expansion.

This expansion also causes the Tower to tilt slightly away from the sun.

It would amaze you to know that since the tower was built, it never stopped growing.
