Afrobeats powerhouse, David Adeleke, Davido is the current rave of the moment; with the recent release of his Timless album which has soared atop charts already and now with his huge shout-out to fellow industry icon Wizkid.
For years, there has been perceived rivalry between the two fanbases, despite the occasional ‘warm-up’ from the both stars on rare occasions. It seems now though that a greater portion of netizens would be put to rest following the both icon’s declaration of love and support.
In a recent interview with Beat99.9FM, Lagos , the DMW boss stated that the Starboy honcho calls him every week to check on him and even teased fans and stans with vague tea on a joint concert tour.
“I would be lying to you if I tell you that [the tour] is not in the talks. It’s looking like next year. I think me and Wiz are probably going to drop a record. Shout out to my brother. He literally calls me every week and checks on me. Shout out to Wiz.â€
Recall that, Wizkid already had hinted a collaboration between the two stars a while ago, delighting both fandoms who have been eager to see more of the two stars and have them work together on an official project.
Similarly, in a tweet on Friday, The Grammy Award-winning artist further preached ‘More love, less ego’ when he referred to Davido as his brother and urged fans to listen to his colleague’s album, ‘Timeless’ which dropped hours earlier after it’s delayed release stemmed from the demise of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
2023 seems to be looking up for the industry with More love, less ego binding these icons. Coupled with the seeming promise of a collaboration between two household icons? We are here for all of it.
