CROSS RIVER PURCHASES SOPHISTICATED EQUIPMENT TO DETECT KIDNAPPERS

The whereabouts of kidnappers in any region of the state may now be determined thanks to technology, according to Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu.
Kidnapping and armed robberies have increased significantly in several areas of the state in recent years.

In order to reduce the increased insecurity that afflicted the state before he took office on May 29, 2023, Governor Otu said that his administration had made significant investments.
He spoke about his decision to crack down on kidnappers, cultists, and armed robbers because so many have returned to take advantage of the amnesty window he provided when he first took office.
He added that the technology will be sent to the state within the week and that it will be nearly impossible for those who commit crimes like kidnapping or armed robbery to flee.

According to the governor, when kidnappers and armed robbers made Akpabuyo and Bakassi LGAs unsafe to enter, his government was able to restore peace there in just three months.
"The technology can identify kidnappers' locations. Previously, I had pardoned the convicts. Few people came up to hand in their firearms. Nothing is taken for granted by me. I've made up my mind to give them my all. They won't be able to live in peace if they won't let others to. They coexist with us. Therefore, the individuals must contribute by providing information about themselves.

"In Bakassi and Akpabuyo LGAs, where criminals "dominated," we had to impose a curfew. Today, I can proudly report that the bad men have been apprehended and the populace may rest peacefully at home.
The governor claimed that the state capital in particular has seen a decline in crime as a result of a total focus being placed on the problem of insecurity.

In a meeting with the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Anthony Owan-Eno, over the weekend, Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone Six Command Jonathan Towuru revealed that they are collaborating with the state government to use intelligence to effectively secure all areas of the state.

He gave the state police commissioner instructions to step up security.
