Copa del Rey Semi-final: Barcelona face Real Madrid for a place in the final

Its El Clasico number 5 this season as the two Spanish giants clash again at the Spotify Camp Nou, for the second leg of the Copa del Rey, as both sides seek a place in the final of the Copa del Rey.

Fc Barcelona hold the slim advantage for the tie as they defeated their rivals by a single goal in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeuthanks to Franck Kessie’s deflected effort. Not just in the tie alone but the Catalan giants also seem to have the upper hand in this fixture this season as Xavi’s men have won 3 times in 4 matches against their Madrid based rivals.

Real Madrid are hoping to get revenge for their Super Cup loss to Fc Barcelona as they were defeated 3-1 in the Super Cup final about 3 months ago. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are also hoping to end a trend of three consecutive loses to their bitter rivals since then.

Fc Barcelona would be without Andreas Christensen, Pedri, Frenkiede Jong and Dembele who are all ruled out through injury while Real Madrid would have an almost fully fit squad with only FerlandMendy missing out through a muscle injury.

With Barcelona aiming to reach a record 43rd Copa final, Real Madrid on the other hand would be looking to stop them from equaling the all-time head-to-head competitive record for wins in this clash with Madrid having one victory more than Barcelona.

Whoever wins the tie would go on to face Osasuna in the final on the 6th of May, 2023 at La Cartuja in Seville.
