THE CITY OF HOUSTON DECLARATION OF DAVIDO'S DAY.

In a remarkable tribute to the exceptional achievements of Nigerian afrobeat sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, the City of Houston in the United States has officially designated July 7 as “Davido Day.” Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston announced this momentous occasion through an official statement released from the heart of Texas.

The proclamation, bearing the Mayor's signature, solidifies the significance of Davido's contributions to the music industry, not only in Nigeria but also on the international stage. By designating a day in his honour, Houston recognizes Davido's outstanding talent, dedication, and influence as a trailblazing artist.

The announcement of Davido Day followed his highly successful, sold-out concert at the renowned Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. This remarkable achievement showcased Davido's immense popularity and the unwavering support of his fans, both in Nigeria and abroad.

This declaration by the City of Houston reflects the growing recognition of African artists and their impact on the global music scene. It mirrors a similar honour bestowed upon fellow Nigerian superstar Wizkid in 2019 when Minnesota's Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed October 6 as Wizkid Day. These acknowledgements not only celebrate the accomplishments of individual artists, but also serve as a testament to the rich and vibrant musical heritage of Africa.

The establishment of Davido Day is a momentous occasion, marking a new chapter in the Nigerian music industry's rise to global prominence. It signifies the power of music to transcend boundaries, unite cultures, and inspire millions around the world.
