CHAOS AS 16 HEALTHCARE WORKERS ARE KILLED BY GUNMEN IN KATSINA

It was learned that 83 healthcare professionals had been abducted overall by the bandits. 16 of the kidnapped healthcare professionals died, though.

At a luncheon honoring Dr. Shamsuddeen Yahaya for his reappointment as the executive secretary of the state Primary Health Care Agency on Wednesday in Katsina, Comrade Mannir Mohammed Suleiman, the state chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, revealed this.

Out of the total, 65 were released when a ransom was paid, but 16 other members of the medical staff perished, according to Suleiman, who claimed that the incident occurred eight years ago.

Therefore, the state Union chairman asked the state government to check the staff registration and welfare of the health professionals, especially in the Frontline Local Government Areas with high levels of nighttime and daytime insecurity concerns.

He continued by congratulating the Health agency's Executive Secretary, emphasizing that this showed the state governor has faith in him to lead the organization to greater heights in the state.

Comrade Mannir Mohammed Suleiman prayed to Almighty Allah to lead and guard the reappointed head of the healthcare organization and promised the union's support and cooperation in the performance of his legal obligations.
