British record attendance for a women’s Champions League match.

 

 

Arsenal women’s team entered the history books for perhaps not the reason they would have loved the most as the 60,063 fans in attendance is now the British record attendance for a women’s Champions League tie when they played host to Wolfsburg women in the semi-final of the competition.

 

The match which was played at the Emirates stadium had to be decided in extra-time after it ended 2-2 after 90 minutes. Wolfsburg eventually got the winning goalthrough Pauline Bremer in the 119th minute.

 

The tie ended 4-5 on aggregate in favor of the German side seeing them progress to the final scheduled for the 3rdof June at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven against the last year’s finalists Barcelona women.
