BREAKING NEWS: Confusion Hits Senate Over Keyamo’s Ministerial Screening

Festus Keyamo, a nominee for a ministerial position, was screened in the Senate, which has caused controversy.

As a result of the misunderstanding, the Senate's leader, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, sought to put the chamber into executive session.

Prior to the commotion, the nominee was invited to address the Chamber and outline his qualifications and the reasons the Federal Republic of Nigeria should appoint him as a minister.

Senator Darlington Nwokocha of the Labor Party, who represents the Abia Central Senatorial District, raised a point of order following his remarks.

He brought the Senate's attention to several violations of the Federal Republic of Nigeria's Constitution committed by the ministerial nominee while he was the minister of state for employment, labor, and productivity.

The legislator described how the nominee prevented the Reps Committee from performing its oversight duty over the N52 billion released to his Ministry.

After stating this, he moved to delay the showing of Keyamo in accordance with legislative regulations.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, a senator, seconded the proposal.

In the midst of the commotion, the Senate President approved a motion to call the chamber into executive session and directed the sergeant-at-arms to remove the nominee.
