BREAKING: Federal Court of Appeal hands Juventus a 10-point deduction in the Serie A.

Italian side Juventus have officially incurred a 10-point deduction in the Serie A following the verdict by the Federal Court of Appeal as it relates to the capital gains scandal and the clubs transfer dealings.

Perhaps the Old lady can blame their most recent performance on the pitch on this ruling as the decision was announced just before the kick-off of the game between Empoli and Juventus at the Stadio Carlo Castellani in Empoli, a game which Juventus lost 4-1.

The official ruling reads;

“The Federal Court of Appeals hereby absolves Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti, Assia Grazioli Venier, Caitlin Mary Hughes, Daniela Marilungo, Francesco Roncaglio and Enrico Vellano from the alleged offences and imposes a 10-point deduction on Juventus in the standings, to be applied for the current season.”

In January, Juventus were deducted 15-points for alleged financial irregularities and false accounting, but was later lifted and the points reversed but following the latest developments and this current decision, the Italian club is at the risk of losing out on playing Champions League football next season as they currently sit on 7thposition in the standings with 59 points, 5 points away from the top-4 with two round of matches left to play before the season ends.

Before the point deduction, Juventus were in pole position to finish in the top-4 as they were 2nd on the league table with 69 points and were on a 3-game winning run. They face AC Milan next at the Allianz Stadium in Turin before travelling to Udine to face Udinese at the Dacia Arena on the final day of the season.
