Be prepared for floods, heavy rainfalls - Lagos alerts residents

Residents in the state's Apapa, Badagry, Eti Osa, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, and Ojo regions have been advised by the Lagos government to brace themselves for very heavy rains that could cause flash floods in the coming days.

He claims that the warning is now required in order to avert the avoidable loss of lives and damage to property that typically results from such occurrences.

This information was provided to residents in certain areas of Lagos State on Tuesday in a new flood alert.

According to a flood alert advisory sent by the Flood Emergency Warning System (FEWS) Central Hub of the Lagos Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, severe rainfall is anticipated between August 14 and August 18. Lekan Shodeinde, who signed the statement, added

Shodeinde asked everyone living in the designated locations to be cautious and aware of any rainfall occurring during or after the times specified.

The Permanent Secretary also warned people living in flood plains and low-lying areas to be prepared to relocate once the rains stop.
