As the petrol price hike continues for the sixth day, Nigerians are recounting their experiences.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased pump prices of petrol following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's inauguration speech in which he announced the end of fuel subsidies. Citizens recount hardships, including long queues at petrol stations and increases in transportation fares and commodity prices. The removal of subsidies has also sparked inflation and concerns for the country's already high poverty rate. Some business owners have had to scale down operations or stop production due to the increase in fuel prices, while others have had to raise prices of their products, risking losing customers. Many citizens criticize the government for not putting adequate measures in place to cushion the impact of subsidy removal on the masses.
