Anxiety as Supreme Court Decides Tinubu-Shettima’s Fate

In anticipation of the historic Supreme Court decision regarding Bola Tinubu's election triumph, there is a tangible sense of fear and worry.

Today, on Friday, the Supreme Court will rule on Tinubu's triumph over Kashim Shettima's purported double nomination.

According to reports, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is attempting to have Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, and Tinubu disqualified due to an alleged double nomination.

PDP alleged that the action was against the electoral laws.

The appeal was based on the appellant's assertions that the appellate court erred in law when it denied its appeal and upheld the trial court's ruling that the lawsuit was unfounded and without substance.

By designating Shettima as both a vice presidential candidate and a senatorial contender for Borno Central, the PDP said that the ruling party had broken the law.

However, Nigerians are becoming a little anxious about the expected verdict.

The Supreme Court's ruling could make or break Tinubu's inauguration as the future president of Nigeria, which is scheduled for May 29.

Ahead of the decision, public affairs analyst Chuks Ibegbu remarked that there was no need to be alarmed by the Supreme Court's decision.

After the Supreme Court's decision, Ibegbu warned Nigerians not to allow themselves to be manipulated in inciting mayhem.

The chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo told a news report: “Well the Supreme Court is the Highest in the land. There should be no cause for alarm. Whatever decision they take is Supreme. We hope their decision will be the best in the interest of justice and Nigeria.

“I want to advise all Nigerians to be law abiding. Nobody should allow anybody to use him as a tool for mayhem.

“Politicians must never be allowed to sow the seed of discord on us. We have many things in common, viz- marriage, workplace relationship, religious companionship, etc, and when these politicians finally settle down in office it’s their wives, children, girlfriends, associates etc they care for and their bottomless pockets.”
