The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has constituted committees to investigate the anti-party involvement of their members.
In a letter released on Monday 3rd of April, 2023, the party alleged that some of the members who are appointees of Governor Ayade's administration have worked against some of their candidates during the presidential and gubernatorial polls.
It reads, "Following the request of faithful and committed members of our great Party to the leadership of the Party, the State Chairman after series of engagements with critical Stakeholders and the State Excos in its meetings of Thursday 30th March 2023, has approved the constitution of a Special Committee to receive complaints of all anti-party activities (including but not limited to working in cohort with opposition Parties and their Candidates except Yala 1 State Constituency House of Assembly alliance with Labour Party which was consequent upon the nullification of the duly elected Candidate of the Party,) ceaseless litigations by members of the Party which were not withdrawn, collusion with security agencies against the Party and her Candidates, etc."
The APC Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba through the party's Secretary, Eramus Ekpang has appealed to the state governor to hold on with the payment of the March Salary of Appointees pending until the investigation is concluded. This he said will enable them to expunge those working against the party.
"The Party hereby appeals to the Governor, Sen. Prof. Ayade CON to please delay the payment of State and Local Government Political Appointees March salaries for two weeks pending the conclusion of this report and necessary disciplinary action."
He added that anyone found guilty will be dealt with severely and that there will not be any form of litigation as all accused will be given the "right of fair hearing".
"Any Committee member who is indicted must recuse himself/herself before sitting but should defend himself/herself personally.
Legal representation shall not be entertained.
The Party wishes to use this medium to warn all those patronizing Political merchants and Shylocks for the purpose of appointments and contracts in the next administration to please desist from such as only the performance of every Cross Riverian across Party lines in the last election will guarantee any such reward."
However, he warn those coming to lobby their ways in the incoming administration to desist forthwith.
