Cape Verde have secured their qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which is the 34th Edition of the biennial event organized by CAF scheduled to be played in Ivory Coast between January 2024 to February the same year.
The Blue Sharks booked their ticket courtesy of a 3-1 victory against Burkina Faso at the Estadio Nacional de Cabo Verde in Praia. Goals from Bebe, Joao Paulo and Cle helped Cape Verde to not only an emphatic victory but also a remarkable achievement as they qualified to the AFCON finals from Group B.
This edition of the tournament was supposed to be the 3rd taking place in the summer of 2023 since the 2019 edition but CAF announced a decision to postpone it to 2024 on the 3rd of July, 2022 due to weather concerns in the host country during the summer.
