AFCON 2023: Algeria books ticket to Ivory Coast.

Algeria have secured their qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which is the 34th Edition of the biennial event organized by CAF scheduled to be played in Ivory Coast between January 2024 to February the same year.

Algeria booked their ticket after a 1-0 victory against Niger at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades, thanks to a Baghdad Bounedjah 6 minute goal. The win was their 4th consecutive win in the qualification series helping them amaze maximum 12 points from their 4 games played in Group F.

The Foxes now join host nation Ivory Coast and Morocco as the only teams yet to have qualified for the tournament, making their twentieth appearance in the competition’s history.

This edition of the tournament was supposed to be the 3rd taking place in the summer of 2023 since the 2019 edition but CAF announced a decision to postpone it to 2024 on the 3rd of July, 2022 due to weather concerns in the host country during the summer.
