2023 ELECTIONS: GBADEBO CONDEMNS ELECTORAL VIOLENCE IN LAGOS

The Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State has condemned what he described as a shambolic election. A spate of violence wh which characterized the Governorship/State House of Assembly Elections in the state and across the country on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

The Labour Party Governorship Candidate  Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, remarked in a statement on Sunday, in reaction to the outcome of the polls.

According to Gbadebo, "This was an election where the entire agents of a party were chased away from their polling units. This is an election where people were standing and if you came to vote and you were not in Labour Party, they were beating you"

"I have had to pay the bills for over twelve people, one was in the concoction, and he just woke up today. One leg is completely broken, and he has to go into surgery, I have been doing this entire money and I cannot even transfer money again because I am done transferring this money for hospitals".

Speaking further, Gbadebo maintained that not only were eligible voters intimidated, but they were also harassed, and humiliated and that the entire process was not democratic, "I condemned this. I will never call Babajide Sanwo-Olu to congratulate him for this shambolic, this sham of an election, this violence that virtually set in a precedent for war in the next election, because nobody will come to into an election believing that they will discuss ideas and issues anymore, because of what it is, it's all about who is more violent"
