Landowners at Winhomes Estate in the Okun-Ajah community of Lagos State have condemned the demolition of their properties without prior notice, which was carried out for the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project.
The landowners described the demolitions as “harsh,” emphasizing that their buildings were not situated on the originally designated route of the road.
Recently, the federal government began constructing the 753-kilometer coastal highway that will connect nine states. This highway is set to link Lagos with Cross River, passing through the coastal states of Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.
