Video Captures EFCC's Attempt to Arrest Former Governor Yahaya Bello at Abuja Lodge

On the night of September 18, the Asokoro district in Abuja experienced gunfire as Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) agents tried to apprehend former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello at the state governor's lodge.

The situation escalated when security personnel at the lodge resisted the arrest, leading to a confrontation with the EFCC operatives. During the chaos, the current Kogi governor, Ahmed Ododo, reportedly helped Bello escape.

Confusion arose following conflicting reports about whether Bello had appeared before EFCC officials. His media team announced on Wednesday that he attended the EFCC office in response to their invitation. However, the EFCC later denied this, asserting that Bello is still a wanted individual.

Furthermore, a source within the EFCC stated that Bello did visit the commission but was not processed due to arriving in a convoy with his successor, which violated the agency’s protocol.
