Valencia fined for Vinicius racism incident.

Valencia have been forced to close a section of their stadium for five games and have been handed a financial fine also after the Spanish FA found some home fans guilty of racially abusing Vinicius Junior during the game between Valencia and Real Madrid.

The Spanish club in response to the ruling by the Spanish FA describes the punishment as “disproportionate and unfair” as it believes it harms the fans who were not involved in the “shameful incident” and have said they would appeal the partial closure of the stadium.

The Mario Kempes stand, where the chants targeting the Brazilian winger were heard from will be closed for the next five league games, which runs into the first four home games in the league next season as the club has just one home fixture left this season.

Meanwhile, Vinicius Junior’s red card has been overturned by the Spanish FA (RFEF) and is eligible to play Real Madrid’s next league game as he would not be facing any suspensions.
