University Student Admits to Killing Colleague After Kidnapping and Ransom

A first-year Biology student at Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in Kogi State has confessed to murdering a female classmate he kidnapped. The suspect, identified as Jeremiah, was apprehended by police, who then led them to the location where he buried the victim, Deborah.

Jeremiah, originally from Kaduna State, reportedly abducted Damilola and took her to an unfinished building, demanding a ransom of N400,000 from her family. After the ransom was paid, he ended her life.

In a video released by the police, they noted that Damilola’s body showed signs of mutilation, although Jeremiah denied any dismemberment. When questioned about why he killed her after receiving the ransom, he claimed it was to prevent her from identifying him.

After the murder, he allegedly contacted Damilola's family again, asking for an additional N10 million. However, he was soon tracked and arrested by law enforcement. When asked about any accomplices, Jeremiah confessed that he acted alone.
