Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has officially joined Galatasaray on loan after Napoli and the player reached an agreement late Monday night. Despite a failed transfer to Chelsea, the 25-year-old found an opportunity to leave Napoli before the Turkish transfer window closes on September 13.
Osimhen’s loan deal includes no buy-back clause, with Galatasaray covering his full salary for the year. Napoli has set his release clause at €75 million, with an option to extend the contract until 2027.
Upon arriving in Turkey, Osimhen was enthusiastically greeted by fans at the stadium. This comes after a disappointing transfer deadline day, where he missed out on moves to both Chelsea and Al Ahli.
Napoli had reportedly agreed to a €70 million transfer plus €10 million in bonuses with Al Ahli, offering Osimhen a lucrative €40 million annual salary and a favorable release clause for a potential return to Europe. However, Napoli's request for an additional €5 million frustrated the Saudi club, leading them to sign Ivan Toney instead. Meanwhile, Chelsea chose to pursue Jadon Sancho, as they could not match Osimhen's high transfer demands.
