Sunday Igboho Submits Petition to UK Prime Minister Regarding Yoruba Nation Movement

Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has submitted a petition to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, urging consideration of the Yoruba Nation's secessionist movement in Nigeria. Though the specifics of the petition are confidential, sources indicate it pertains to the "Yoruba Nation agitation."

Igboho submitted the petition on Saturday on behalf of Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Nation movement. He was accompanied by notable figures, including Diaspora Youth Leader Prophet Ologunoluwa, Fatai Ogunribido from Ifeladun Apapo, Alhaja Adeyeye of Yoruba World Media, and Paul Odebiyi from the Yoruba Nation Movement.

The movement is seeking the UK Prime Minister's urgent intervention in establishing a country primarily for the indigenous Yoruba people.

Additionally, Yoruba historian Banji Akintoye previously accused the Nigerian government of attempting to persuade Igboho to abandon his activism. He claimed that during Igboho's time in a Benin Republic prison, a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), tried to entice him with a promise of billions of naira in exchange for renouncing his agitation. Igboho reportedly refused to sign the document, which Buratai later took back.
