Son joins Premier League 100 goals club.

Heung-Min Son becomes the 34th member of the 100 goal club in the Premier League after his 10th minute curling effort from outside the box hit the back of the net as his Tottenham side won 2-1 against Brighton.

The Asian winger who joined the Tottenham in 2015 has reached a century of Premier League goals for the English club becoming the first Asian player to be on the list. In his eight seasons in the Premier League, he has won the golden boot once (2021/22 season) and failed to score double digit goals in only one season (2015/16), his first in the league.

Southampton and Leicester City are his favorite opponents, having hit 10 goals in 15 games and 9 goals in 14 games respectively but it’s Aston Villa who are the team he’s most clinical against averaging a goal every game he plays against them (five goals in five games).

Speaking after the game, he said:

“I was really emotional because I have had tough moments in the last few weeks, my grandad passed away. I want to send that goal to him. I hope all the Asian players look at this achievement and believe they can do it as well.”

“It’s a big responsibility. I hope all the Asians and South Koreans, I hope all around Asia they look at this achievement. It’s always the belief. I’m the first Asian player but I take big responsibility to do well. I hope to be an example and the young players who start playing football should believe they should do amazing things in the Premier League.”

The South Korean International ranks as the Asian player with the most appearances (260), most goals (100), most hat-tricks (3) andmost assists (50) in the Premier League as well as being the only Asian player to win a golden boot in the league’s history.
