Saudi Arabia has successfully conducted the world's first fully robotic heart transplant at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC). This complex surgery, lasting two and a half hours, was performed on a 16-year-old patient with end-stage heart failure. Led by Dr. Feras Khaliel, the operation was carefully planned, utilizing virtual simulations to ensure accuracy. A key feature of this surgery is its minimally invasive robotic technique, which avoids opening the patient's chest, resulting in a quicker recovery and reduced risk of complications compared to traditional approaches.
