Sam Amadi Advocates for Cargo Tracking to Address Nigeria's Economic Crisis

Sam Amadi, director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, emphasizes that any government aiming to tackle Nigeria's economic challenges should prioritize cargo tracking.

Amadi, who previously chaired the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), highlighted the necessity of implementing a cargo tracking system in the country. In July, the federal government awarded a contract for this purpose to P-Lyne Energy Limited, which is expected to provide technological solutions for the oil and gas sector.

Interestingly, the same contract was initially granted by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to Antaser Nigeria Limited in 2023 for a 15-year cargo tracking implementation.

At a press conference in Abuja, Amadi stressed the importance of ensuring that Nigeria’s Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) possesses “international credibility” to gain recognition.

“Any government facing severe insecurity and economic turmoil should prioritize this project,” he stated. “We are discovering arms and ammunition within our borders almost monthly.”
