Rivers State Governor Forms Panel to Investigate Recent Violence

Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has established a seven-member panel to look into the recent killings and property damage at local government secretariats in the state.

The panel was inaugurated on Tuesday, October 8, in the executive chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

During the inauguration, Governor Fubara emphasized that his administration would not permit “ill-guided youths and sponsored political thugs” to turn Rivers into a violent environment without consequences. He charged the panel with investigating the root causes of the violence and identifying those responsible for the attacks on the secretariats.

“I have decided to take this action to uncover both the immediate and underlying causes of this arson,” Fubara stated. “Most importantly, we must hold accountable anyone involved, regardless of their status.”
