Presidency: "I'm Here to Work, Not to Make Money" - President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu emphasized that his goal in office is not to seek wealth but to serve the interests of Nigeria. He made this statement during a meeting with the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly, headed by former Senate President Ken Nnamani, at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

"I didn't come to look for money or exploit the situation; I came to work. I asked for votes, and Nigerians granted them to me," Tinubu remarked.

Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, noted that the meeting included 16 former presiding officers, such as past senate presidents and House speakers. Tinubu expressed gratitude for their support and called for continued unity across party lines to achieve national development.

Addressing the difficulties currently faced by Nigerians, Tinubu acknowledged the hardships but questioned how the situation arose. "Yes, there is hardship, but how did we get here? We neglected our communities and failed to ensure a good standard of living," he stated, highlighting issues like dilapidated schools and low enrollment rates.

He reiterated his administration's commitment to enhancing infrastructure, ensuring financial compliance, exploring alternative energy solutions, and securing energy stability. "We have come a long way, and I promise we will do our best," he affirmed.

Tinubu encouraged the former presiding officers to share their governance expertise, as their insights are vital for addressing Nigeria's challenges
