Police Officers Arrested for the Death of Kwara Polytechnic Student

Police officers have been arrested in connection with the death of Qoyum Ishola, a 21-year-old student from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. He was allegedly killed during a student protest against a recent fuel price hike last Wednesday.

Qoyum, a second-year student in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, was reportedly shot in the Fate area of Ilorin amid the protests, which erupted after petrol prices surged from N568 to N878.

In response, many students have taken to social media to call for justice for Qoyum.

The Police Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the officers involved have been detained. He also mentioned the possibility of conducting a post-mortem examination on the deceased to determine the exact cause of death.
