Peter Obi Responds to Betrayal Accusations from Labour Party Chairman

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has addressed allegations of betrayal made against him by Barrister Julius Abure, the party's national chairman. Abure made these claims during a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on September 9, accusing Obi and Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti of conspiring against him by holding a stakeholders' meeting in Umuahia, Abia State. In response, Obi, through his spokesperson Comrade Ibrahim Umar of Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), expressed disappointment with Abure's remarks, stating they misrepresent the situation within the party. He accused Abure of misleading the public and damaging Mr. Obi's reputation by labeling him a betrayer. "I am disappointed, though not surprised, by the false accusations of betrayal directed at our principal, Mr. Peter Obi, by Julius Abure, the embattled national chairman. This appears to be a politically motivated attempt to mislead the public. "The stakeholders meeting held in Umuahia was intended to address the ongoing leadership crisis and find a way forward, and it was not personal in nature. "The Obidient Movement fully supports the actions and decisions of the stakeholders, which are rooted in a commitment to unity, justice, and transparency. "Just because he sought justice? Abure's term ends in June, yet he refuses to step down and claims he is ready to fight. But who is he fighting against? We recognize his desperation for power, but it is time for him to prioritize the party's interests over his own. We will refrain from name-calling and character attacks. Instead, we urge Julius Abure to accept the outcomes of the interventions by Mr. Peter Obi and Gov. Alex Otti, which aimed to resolve misunderstandings and chart a path forward."
