Pastor William Kumuyi Calls for Ethical Practices Among Clergymen to Protect Church Members

Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Christian Life Ministry, has urged fellow clergymen to cease exploiting their congregants financially under the pretense of encouraging them to "sow seeds" for financial prosperity. He made this appeal during a sermon at a Christian meeting on Friday, October 18.

Kumuyi emphasized that church leaders should focus on providing genuine support and solutions to their members' needs rather than seeking financial gain. He criticized the practice of urging members to sow seeds with the promise of divine multiplication, questioning the sincerity of such claims. “Let us be sincere… those widows have next to nothing, and we brainwash them into believing that giving everything they have will bring them blessings.”

He further expressed concern about the plight of these vulnerable members, noting that many end up impoverished while the preachers grow wealthier. Kumuyi called for introspection among church leaders, asking, “Examine yourself. How are those who have given everything feeling now? How are their children doing?
