Omoyele Sowore Arrested and Detained by DSS, Later Released

The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested prominent activist and politician Omoyele Sowore upon his return to Nigeria on the morning of September 15. Sowore announced the arrest in a post on X, highlighting that it followed his claims the previous day about Nigerian security forces attempting to track him down in his hometown in Ondo State and falsely accuse him of various offenses.

Sowore stated, "Yeah! All around in my hometown, they're trying to track me down, claiming they want to bring me in guilty. However, Babylon must fall! #FearlessInOctober."

At the time of the report, some of Sowore's supporters gathered at the airport, reportedly demanding his release with threats of blocking all airport access. In a subsequent update, Sowore confirmed that he had been released.
