The Ogun State government has announced the start of renovations at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, also known as the Alake Sports Centre, in preparation for the National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The NSF, branded as the '2024 Gateway Games,' is scheduled to take place from January 12 to 26, 2025.
After touring the facility, Wasiu Isiaka, the commissioner for sports development in the state, assured Nigerians that the project would be completed on time.
“The work includes scraping the pitch in the main bowl of the stadium, removing the tartan tracks, and updating the roofs at the indoor hall of the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, all of which are progressing concurrently,” Isiaka stated
