Notorious Nigerian Human Trafficker "Rambo" Dies by Suicide in Italian Prison

ohn Ogais, a notorious Nigerian human trafficker known as "Rambo," has reportedly taken his own life in an Italian prison. According to local media, Ogais committed suicide after attacking and injuring four prison guards on September 16, 2024.

Ogais was arrested in 2017 for his involvement in a gang that trafficked migrants from Libya to Italy, where they were subjected to torture, rape, and murder. He was apprehended at the Cara 'Santa' Anna shelter in Isola Capo Rizzuto, Calabria, after being identified by migrants who had arrived on Lampedusa island.

Witnesses revealed that migrants at the Libyan camp reported Ogais had brutally beaten two Nigerian migrants to death. One victim, a minor, was killed in front of his brother, who was threatened with a loaded gun during the ordeal.

One migrant recounted to police, "I know my cousin and others tried to escape but were caught and died from the torture they endured." Ogais and his associates reportedly used various methods of torture, including electric shocks and beatings with rubber tubes.
