NIGERIA POLICE FORCE INTEND TO PROSECUTE SKIT MAKER CUTE ABIOLA OVER VIOLATION OF THE POLICE UNIFORM.

The Nigeria Police Force has expressed its intention to take action against skit maker Abdulgafar Ahmad, also known as Cute Abiola, for wearing a police uniform in his skits and disrespecting the Nigeria Police Force uniform in the process. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that while Nigerians have the right to enjoy their fundamental human rights, they should not disregard the police institution or violate its provisions concerning the use of uniforms.

The skits posted by Cute Abiola on his social media handles on 20th and 24th July 2023 were deemed highly disrespectful and derogatory towards the police uniform. These actions were found to be in direct violation of Section 251 of the Criminal Code and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law. Such behavior is not only offensive, but also undermines the integrity and dignity of the police officers who wear the uniform while serving the nation.

As a consequence, Abdulgafar Abiola will be investigated and could face prosecution for his deliberate acts, as the Nigeria Police Force had previously warned skit makers and filmmakers against desecrating its uniform or accouterments. The Force is committed to uphold the sanctity of the uniform and will pursue due legal process to hold accountable anyone who seeks to bring disrepute to the uniform or the institution it represents.

The public, including media personalities, is urged to exercise their freedom of expression responsibly and avoid engaging in actions that could erode public trust in law enforcement institutions. By respecting the sanctity of the uniform, individuals can play a role in upholding the honor and dignity of those who serve to protect and maintain law and order.
