NDLEA Arrests Thailand Returnee at Lagos Airport with 13.30kg of Heroin

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos have apprehended Oguejiofor Simonpeter, a returnee from Thailand, for attempting to import 13.30 kg of heroin valued at over N3.192 billion.

In a statement, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that Oguejiofor was arrested on October 7, 2024, while trying to smuggle the drug hidden in six backpacks packed into two large suitcases.

Babafemi explained that Oguejiofor departed Thailand on October 3 via Qatar Airways, making a two-day stop in Doha before arriving in Lagos. His luggage was originally sent to Accra, Ghana, but after reaching Lagos on October 5, he contacted the airline to reroute his bags to Nigeria, intending to collect them quickly to evade security checks. However, NDLEA officers intercepted him at the airport exit
