NAFDAC Closes Maiduguri Market Over Sale of Flood-Damaged Drugs

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has ordered the closure of the Gomboru drug market in Maiduguri, Borno State. In a statement, the agency revealed that it found drugs affected by recent flooding being washed and sun-dried for resale.

"Following the recent flooding in Maiduguri, which inundated the Gomboru drug market, contaminated drugs were discovered being prepared for sale. The NAFDAC Director General has mandated the immediate closure of the market to ensure a comprehensive removal of these compromised products," the statement noted.

On September 10, Maiduguri experienced an unprecedented flood that caused significant damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.
