Minister Wike Urges Nigerians to Pay Taxes for Essential Services

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on Nigerians to fulfill their tax obligations, emphasizing that the government requires adequate funding to provide essential social services.

Speaking at the inaugural Abuja Business and Investment Summit organized by the Abuja Investment Company Limited, Wike highlighted the summit's theme, "Optimising Investment Through Partnerships," as aligned with the Federal Government's efforts to leverage collaboration for enhanced investment opportunities.

Wike clarified that the notion that the government does not need funds is misguided. He pointed out past partnerships with the private sector that failed to yield returns, stating that the government cannot continue to invest heavily without assurance of profitability.

"People often question why the government needs to make money," Wike remarked. "If the government is not to make money, how do we fund our services? The government needs money to operate effectively.
