Minister Warns NCoS Officials: No One Linked to Bobrisky Scandal Will Escape Consequences

Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has issued a strong warning that any officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) involved in the alleged apartment-for-prison scandal tied to controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, will face serious repercussions.

This statement follows reports on social and traditional media suggesting that some NCoS officials arranged for Bobrisky to serve his jail sentence in a private apartment instead of a prison cell. He had been sentenced to six months in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.

During a press briefing in Abuja celebrating his first year in office, Dr. Tunji-Ojo assured the public that anyone found guilty in the ongoing investigation would not be spared. "We will not spare anyone, regardless of their position," he declared. "Let’s be patient. The investigation is ongoing, but rest assured that no one will be protected," he emphasized.

He also pointed out that the high-profile individuals appointed to oversee the investigation demonstrate the government's commitment to a thorough and comprehensive inquiry. Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence that the investigation would help restore discipline and integrity within the Correctional Service.
