Minister of Power Claims Nigerians Have Stopped Complaining About Petrol Price Hi

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has suggested that Nigerians are no longer voicing complaints about the recent hike in petrol prices, attributing this shift to improved electricity supply reducing the need for generator use.

Speaking in Abuja on October 15, Adelabu addressed the recent increase in petrol prices by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), which raised the pump price from N868 per liter to N968 in Lagos and over N1,000 in other regions. This surge has led to a significant rise in transportation costs and the price of essential goods across the country.

Adelabu noted, "People don't need to buy petrol again as much as they used to do for them to have power. That's why the noise is even at this level." He further stated that if Nigerians were still reliant on filling stations for petrol to power their generators, the public outcry would be much louder.

The minister also referenced Lagos State's initiative to replace one million generators within a year, emphasizing the government's commitment to enhancing electricity supply and reducing dependency on fuel-powered generators
