The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has granted Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, permission to inspect the materials used in the September 21 election.
Ighodalo is contesting the victory of Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect of Edo. Okpebholo, currently a senator, secured the election with 291,667 votes, defeating Ighodalo, who received 247,274 votes.
The party previously reported being denied access to the materials when it attempted to conduct an inspection on Monday. Inspecting election materials is a critical step in challenging electoral results in Nigeria.
