House of Representatives Summons EFCC Chairman and Others Over Bobrisky Case

The House of Representatives has called on the Chairman of the EFCC, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Bobrisky, VeryDarkMan, and other officials involved in Bobrisky's prosecution to appear before them.

In a letter dated September 27, 2024, the committee requested EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyode and Nigeria Correctional Service Chief Haliru Nababa to attend a hearing on Monday, September 30, along with all relevant officers. Those invited include ACG Ben Rabbi Freedman, the Controller of Corrections for Lagos Command, Jaafaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board, and DCCs Sikiru Adekunle and Michael Anugwa, who oversee medium and maximum security facilities, respectively.

The inquiry is linked to bribery allegations against both the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service concerning Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison earlier this year for naira abuse. A leaked audio conversation from VeryDarkMan claims that Bobrisky paid N15 million to the EFCC to have money laundering charges dropped and suggests he spent time in a VIP facility rather than in prison. This investigation follows the House's decision to probe the alleged bribery involving the EFCC
