Governor Fubara Urges Nyesom Wike to Release Control for Peace in Rivers State

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to relinquish any ambitions of controlling Rivers State to foster peace in the oil-rich region.

Fubara expressed no regrets about holding the local government elections last Saturday, despite opposition from Wike’s supporters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I have the courage to take these actions,” the governor stated on Channels TV, urging Wike to abandon any perceived influence he believes he has over the South-South state.

“I have done everything possible for peace to prevail. I can recount the times I have knelt down pleading for us to move past these issues. I have done all I can,” Fubara added.
