Federal Prosecutors Push to Keep Sean "Diddy" Combs in Custody, Citing Threat to Witnesses

Federal prosecutors are intensifying their efforts to keep music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs behind bars, arguing that he poses a significant threat to witnesses and alleged victims if released on bail. Newly filed court documents detail Diddy's alleged actions following a March 2016 incident in which he is accused of beating a victim—widely believed to be his former partner, Cassie—at a Los Angeles hotel.

The U.S. Attorney's Office highlighted the notorious incident at the InterContinental Hotel, where Diddy allegedly assaulted the victim by punching her, throwing her to the ground, kicking her, and attempting to drag her back to their hotel room. While the victim's name is redacted in the documents, the description aligns closely with previously reported incidents involving Cassie.

Prosecutors are particularly concerned about Diddy’s behavior immediately after the alleged assault. According to the documents, hotel security, having witnessed the attack on surveillance footage, confronted Diddy, who allegedly attempted to bribe the officer with cash to remain silent. Although the guard rejected the bribe, Diddy reportedly instructed his team to retrieve the footage, which prosecutors claim mysteriously "disappeared" from the hotel's servers within days.

In light of these allegations and the potential for obstructing justice, the prosecution is urging the court to uphold the previous decision to deny Diddy bail, citing fears that he could influence witnesses or destroy evidence. Diddy's legal team has filed multiple appeals challenging the bail denial, all of which have been unsuccessful to date.

As the case progresses, federal authorities are keen to keep Diddy in custody pending trial, arguing that his past conduct indicates a pattern of attempting to evade justice
