Environmental Violations: Lagos Government Closes Mosque and Other Establishments

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken action against several establishments in various areas, including Alausa Ikeja, Ogba, Surulere, Sabo Yaba, Ebute Metta, and Shomolu, due to violations of environmental laws. This was announced in a recent post on the agency’s X account.

The statement highlighted that LASEPA is stepping up its efforts to tackle noise and other environmental issues across the state. Among the establishments sealed off are 12 Meals Lounge, Bel Papyrus, Grand Hyatt, Oluwatoyin Mosque, MultiStyle Supermarket, Special Bread Bakery, and Understanding Bar. These businesses were found to be in breach of environmental regulations despite having received prior warnings.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws. He stated, "We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations. All businesses must recognize their environmental responsibilities and collaborate with the State government to ensure a noiseless, cleaner, and more sustainable Lagos that is safer for everyone."
