Enugu State Government Renames Road to Honor Folk Music Legend Mike Ejeagha and Assumes Responsibility for His Care

The Enugu State government has officially renamed a road in honor of 93-year-old folk music legend Mike Ejeagha, also committing to take full responsibility for his well-being.

Ejeagha gained widespread attention in July when content creator Brain Jotter featured his song in a viral dance challenge. The routine includes energetic movements, such as facing opposite directions, walking towards one another, performing a humorous leg dance, and playfully chasing each other to the catchy chorus of "Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo."

At 93, Ejeagha's song, which narrates the tale of a clever tortoise outsmarting an elephant, has resonated with a new audience, revitalizing interest in Nigerian folklore and Igbo culture.
