"Emir of Daura Confers Jakadiyar Karsa-Hausa Title on Tinubu’s Eldest Daughter"

On September 9, 2024, the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar (CON), officially named President Tinubu’s eldest daughter as the Jakadiyar Karsa-Hausa in a ceremony attended by chiefs and the esteemed people of the Daura Emirate.

Daura serves as the cultural heart of the Hausa people, preserving their rich heritage and traditions. The Daura dynasty extends across seven Hausa states and seven additional emirates, including Kano, Katsina, Zaria, Rano, Gobir, Biram, Kebbi, Zamfara, Yauri, Gwari, Nupe, Kwararrafa, and Jukun.

According to traditional customs, any title from the Emir of Daura, the leader of these fourteen emirates, requires the approval of all emirates, and the Jakadiyar Karsa-Hausa title has received unanimous support from all members.

On October 10, 2024, the Emir’s crowned prince, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Faruk, presented the endorsement letter and title confirmation to Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, officially recognizing her as Jakadiyar Karsa-Hausa in front of her business associates, market leaders, and the Hausa community in Lagos. This title translates to "Ambassador of the Hausas" both locally and internationally.

The crowned prince explained that this designation automatically makes Folasade Tinubu-Ojo a member of the traditional council for all fourteen emirates that endorsed her. He conveyed the goodwill messages from the Emir of Daura and the people of Daura.

In response, Chief Dr. Mujidat Folasade Tinubu-Ojo expressed her gratitude to her father, the Emir of Daura, and the people of the emirate for the honor. She vowed to serve as a dedicated ambassador for Hausa culture, ensuring that the traditions and dignity of all Hausa people, young and old, are upheld.
