Emily "Cissy" Houston, Renowned Soul Singer and Mother of Whitney Houston, Dies at 91

Emily "Cissy" Houston, the legendary soul singer and mother of the late Whitney Houston, has died at the age of 91.

She passed away on Monday at her home in New Jersey while under hospice care for Alzheimer's disease, according to her family.

The Grammy Award-winning artist was celebrated for her collaborations with major stars, including Elvis Presley. Her passing comes 12 years after her daughter Whitney tragically drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub at the age of 48
