Edo State Government Delays School Resumption Amid Rising Fuel Prices

The Edo State Government has postponed the resumption of schools due to increasing petrol prices and the difficulties faced by parents and guardians. While most schools across Nigeria are scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 9, a statement from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, indicated that the resumption of all public and private schools has been delayed "until further notice." The statement noted, "An official directive from the government has mandated that schools remain closed due to the unrest caused by the recent fuel price hikes and the challenges impacting parents and guardians."
